President's Message

I hope your summer has been sunny and peaceful so far. After what felt like a long, endless winter and a short spring, it feels great to be out and about again. The WOCNext Conference was held in Ft Worth, TX in early June as a hybrid event to offer the option of attending virtually or in person. The WOCNCB was thrilled to exhibit in person again! Thank you to those of you who stopped by our booth, it was nice to see familiar faces and to meet new people who stopped by! The excitement of everyone being back together at the conference was palpable.

This conference was special not only because it was our first opportunity to see each other in the last couple of years, but it was also jointly sponsored by WOCN and WCET. As the WOCNCB continues to expand its outreach internationally, we were able to meet WOC nurses from all over the globe and answer any questions they had about our certification.

It was an honor to be able to present the WOCNCB Employer Recognition Award Winner at our booth during the conference. Congratulations Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Los Angeles, California! They absolutely shine in demonstrating exemplary support of the certification process of WOC nursing. Not only were the nurses who nominated their employer present to accept the award, but their nursing leadership was also present. This was another example of how their nursing leadership values their certified WOC nurses.

I attended some excellent sessions this year and as always, am excited to get my CEUs. There were plenty of opportunities for networking and the Nurse’s Night Out at the Stockyards was an absolute blast! The WOCNCB had the opportunity to share updates for 2022 after the WOCN business meeting. We also were available to answer PGP questions at the innovation HUB in the exhibit hall. We are trying something new this month, PGP Office Hours, where you can ask questions in real time and learn more about the PGP process and resources, WOCNCB volunteers will be available to answer PGP questions LIVE via Zoom, more details below.

The new self-assessment exams (SAEs) have more questions and mimic the look and feel of the WOCNCB exam you will take on your test day. The content areas of the self-assessment exam are comparable to those of the actual certification exam. The SAEs are a great tool for preparing for the exam and provide explanation of the answers.
